Get Started Designing Your Labels
Picking the correct paper is easy if you understand why certain papers are better than others.
Basic paper has several advantages and disadvantages. One advantage paper is the least expensive. You can mirror fine materials such as linen, cloth, or other fabrics. Hot foil stamping, embossing, spot varnish, unique shapes, or distinctive tones. A disadvantage is wear and moisture. Humidity can cause the label to peal or loosen. Sometimes these problems can be lessened with a protective finish.
A BOPP paper that is moisture resistant is a much better choice. White BOPP is the most commonly used. The label will be water-resistant. BOPP paper also will offer a modern look. As opposed to the Old fashioned or Estate look of a typical paper label.
Clear Film will also allow for White Ink application which stands out nicely on a dark bottle. You can also use clear film to offer precious metal colors. Brass, Copper, Gold and silver.
Holographic paper is another standout option. The holographic paper will give your label an eye-catching psychedelic appeal. The reflective nature allows light to cascade across the label. If you are going after a less traditional market, holographic could offer you many advantages. It also has a very unique look paired with white ink.

Finally, It's Time to Pick Your Finish
Laminate vs. UV Coating
Laminates are a material that covers the label and are a thicker and more durable finish than UV coating. This provides additional protection against abrasion since the finish cannot simply be scratched off of the label.
UV coating is a special varnish that is cured during printing by exposure to ultraviolet light. Although more expensive than other finishes, they offer a better longer-lasting product.
Popular in a variety of markets, gloss laminates and UV coatings work great to protect a label’s inks from rubbing off or smearing. Gloss is recommended for many indoor applications as outdoor environments can cause fading to the label.
Available as a laminate or UV coating, matte finishes offer a more subtle effect to your labels with a flat, soft look and feel. Like gloss, matte is recommended for indoor applications and protects a label’s ink from coming off.
